Hey there! My name is Jessica and I can’t wait to get to know you. I grew up a little differently than most people – in a tribe as a missionary kid, actually. Yep, a real tribe where they have animal sacrifices and people live in caves.
Looking back it was a bit bizarre, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. My husband sometimes thinks I’m strange when I lick my plate or do something that is otherwise socially unacceptable. But hey, he loves me still (good man!) I got a lot of time with my parents, had time to read and developed a deep relationship with God. Those years were precious and formed me into the quirky woman I am today.
After graduating from the good old home school I moved to Hawaii and I was culture shocked to have access to water pressure and hot pockets. America is a pretty incredible country and I think moving to Hawaii was a perfect transition for me. Not everyone speaks the same language, there are wild chickens roaming the streets and everyone is friendly.
I met my husband at school, after two years of friendship we joined forces in marriage and after seven years together he remains the love of my life. We bicker and banter but he is my other half and we created a pretty incredible little human named Penelope. We are a part of a wonderful like-minded community here and we hope to plant roots and make a tribe of surfing children that love Jesus. We live simply in a one bedroom “Ohana” and my days are full Winnie the Pooh, laundry, cleaning, beach sessions and some occasional writing as a creative outlet through which to share a bit of my heart.
I hope as you read my posts you will see that you’re not alone and that there is a little lady all the way across the ocean rooting for you. Oh and do come visit us – hosting is my jam 😉
